The city is now picking up the recycling and this is the new truck. Much bigger than the ones used by the company which had been contracted out. Much confusion over the last few weeks over the old cans and the new. Today some houses had old and new both filled and it was nice to see that the city truck dumped both. I expect to see the old cans taken away very soon.
I couldn't get a very good picture but you can kind of see that there is a part of the truck protruding in front of the cab. This is where the can is emptied first. Not sure how many cans it takes to fill that part but at some time that container is flipped over the top of the truck. We might have to follow them around some time.
If you look closely at the center of the picture, you can see our container being tipped to be emptied.

The Mighty Baker
New! Directly south of the Library! Hopefully he will get a lot of walk-ins because I took this picture today, Sunday, and there are still cars parked in front of the store. Not much parking on the Library's side of the street or in the south Library lot either during the day. Still, it can be done as I did it on Wednesday.
I had seen the remodeling going on but on Wednesday as I drove past, there were balloons out in front so I went around the block and, amazingly, did find a parking spot across the street.
It turns out that The Mighty Baker's first day of business was Tuesday. I was there around one o'clock and the cases were not overly full so perhaps he had sold a lot already. I bought an individual apple tart and it was very good. He was ready to put it in a box for me, fps, which would have made me feel very special indeed but was really not necessary.
I stopped a woman outside to ask her a question about something she was carrying into the back of the building on the right. It happens that she owns the building and will be renting space to small businesses and "creatives". I love the sound of that! She has done a wonderful job so far with the painting on the outside... and getting the baker in there.
I'm hoping the MB will be able to make a Boston Cream Pie for my birthday. It's a big one next year.
